American double bassist Charlie Haden was one of the great innovators of Modern Jazz – experimental, simple, subtle, prolific. His music and message compelling and his associations with Ornette Coleman, Keith Jarrett and Carla Bley are classics in their genre. As a person he was passionate and political as a father he was responsible for the Haden Triplets, Petra, Rachel and Tanya.
