On 30th September 1967 Radio 1 was launched in the UK as a vehicle for 16-24 year olds to enjoy the burgeoning pop scene of the day.

I have this as a playlist on Spotify.

Before this radio was a completely different beast. This was a big step for the BBC into the future.

As a 9 year old I had some of these singles, including Flowers In The Rain. I still have it in the archive. I have only owned that single for 45 years.
