The Experimental Accessibility Of James Blake Live on KCRW

James Blake

Dubstep anyone? If you are over 30 and are not sure what that is exactly go here:

I bought the first James Blake album as soon as it came out. I’d seen him on TV and thought that it was a fascinating mixture of syncopated drums and melodic vocals. But what attracted him to me was the experimental nature of the music and that somehow it sounded accessible. Complex accessibility? It’s like emotional jamming. He has a quite lovely voice and the busy rhythm rather than distracting from it, rather more highlights it.This really sounds like a new kind of music, although by now it’s already old news. If you enjoy this live KCRW session get his eponymous debut and his second more recent release Overgrown, you won’t be disappointed.
