In the same year as Pink Fairies were releasing their third album and eventually splitting up, Roxy Music were on their second album, For Your Pleasure and on a rise to fame that would turn Bryan Ferry into an international star and Brian Eno into a legendary musical innovator. This moody and magnificent piece was a highlight from the album. Check out Eno’s garb, it would be his last album with the band. Bob Harris, the show’s host, famously introduced them to the show by saying that he didn’t like them!
The classic album cover featured Bryan Ferry’s girlfriend, model Amanda Lear who made some very successful disco albums in the seventies and became Salvador Dali’s muse. The cover photo was taken by Karl Stoecker who also did the sleeves for the first Roxy Music album, Stranded and Siren as well as Spark’s Kimono My House and Lou Reed’s Transformer.
While we’re here, some Glam trivia – Stoecker also took the pic on the Legend album cover, the band drummer Bill Fifield was in before he joined T.Rex, Bolan suggested he use Legend as his stage name – he is the only surviving member of T.Rex.
