One of the classic albums of the sixties, Scott 3 from 1969 was Scott Walker crooning in a wash of orchestra (C/- Wally Stott) with a moody magnificence, powerful lyrics and commanding voice. But this was the beginning of the end for Scott Walker the pop star. As Bowie was inventing himself as a pop star himself with Space Oddity in the same year, his later persona was preempted by Walker years earlier. Three Jaques Brel songs, third album, went to number three in the British charts. Buy the vinyl, listen to this album three hundred times.
