Released in 1984, Drive was an international hit reaching Number 4 in the UK and Number 3 in the US. Written by Ric Ocasek, produced by Mutt Lange and sung by Benjamin Orr. Dated electronics aside, it has that rare mix of a gorgeous song, a wonderful sentiment and an absolute sincerity. It was the third single from the Heartbeat City album and was the band’s biggest hit. Tragically, Benjamin Orr died of pancreatic cancer in October 2000.
