The late seventies Power Pop scene was inhabited with lots of successful bands such as The Knack, The Cars and The Romantics made dents in the US/the world, Elvis Costello and Nick Lowe (and their bands) had catchy tunes for the Brits and Chrissie Hynde in The Pretenders and Blondie were American’s making a dent in the UK. A few of the lesser known bands became hip – The DB’s, The Plimsouls, The Records, Shoes and The Nerves (their song Hanging On The Telephone was immortalized by Blondie). Looking back to both sixties and seventies bands such as The Raspberries, Badfinger and Big Star for inspiration, this genre has spawned some memorable pop singles – here’s one that didn’t make it by Los Angeles band (via Tulsa) 20/20.
