Welsh language World Folk with tinges of Reggae and moody musical passages featuring Lisa Jen’s ancient language expressed in a modern setting. The future meets the past in this second album from 9Bach. If you go to the Real World link below there’s an explanatory video about the band name and album title as well as translations of the song titles and the songs meanings. Otherwise just enjoy this interesting hybrid of the old and the new with harp, electric guitar and bass as well as electronics, percussion and some other strange sounding instruments.
After spending some time in Australia’s Northern territory Lisa Jen immersed herself in the Aboriginal culture collaborating with The Black Arm Band (a collective of Australia’s indigenous musicians) and found herself learning about the Earth we live on and this inspired her to write. There’s also one song in Greek – so mix this together with the Welsh culture and language and you have 9Bach, a warm, meaningful World Music and Folk music project that transcends language and communicates through the expressive voice, the stories in the songs and an affinity with nature itself.
