Life & Death

Gerry GoffinJust days after posting a piece on Pleasant Valley Sunday, the song’s lyricist Gerry Goffin has died age 75.

Along with his first wife composer Carole King, Goffin wrote the lyrics to some of the most memorable songs of the modern pop era – Will You Love Me Tomorrow, The Loco-Motion, It Might As Well Rain Until September, I’m into Something Good, Oh No Not My Baby and perhaps surprisingly (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman. He also wrote the lyrics for more Monkees songs including Take A Giant Step and The Porpoise Song.

There is a link below to The Independent’s announcement of his passing and The Guardian for his obituary. The playlist features 10 songs that he co-wrote. RIP Gerry Goffin, condolences to friends and family
