An ambitious project for some but not for Todd Rundgren. As an engineer, recording sacred cows from the sixties was well within his repertoire of talents. In fact the playing and singing part was easy for him, it was getting the sounds that might be tricky. Rundgren’s Strawberry Fields was a ‘faithful’ rendition of The Beatles original. In recording a cover version, the task might be to interpret the song in your own way but wasn’t Rundgren trying to demystify rather than reinterpret?
