the cultSouthern Death Cult, Death Cult and finally The Cult with the classic 1985 Gothic, Indie, Rock, Acoustic Metal, trippy, She Sells Sanctuary, the fourth single from the Love album. Ian Astbury hamming it up, Billy Duffy wielding his Gretsch White Falcon, Jamie Stewart grooving on the bass and drummer Mark Brzezicki from Big Country filling in for Nigel Preston, fired due to drug problems before they filmed the video (He died of an overdose in 1992).

Love was an odd mixture of dark, moody and powerful, it was the precursor to their flirtation with Metal and their latent fondness for AC/DC and Led Zeppelin . The album set them on course to million selling albums and a change of style from a punk ethos to corporate riffs. To tell the story of what happened in the following 30 years might not take us to a better place than this one classic song.
