A particularly adventurous piece of music for any band but even more so for an alleged Blues band. Peter Green was the singer, the writer and the leading musical light in this band that included three guitarists – Green, Jeremy Spencer and Danny Kirwan alongside the rhythm section of Mick Fleetwood and John McVie.
Although Peter Green had the magic, if you watch the available videos of the songs you see that all three guitarists played an important role. Sadly all three of them suffered either mental problems, alcoholism or bad cases of religion.
Tone is in the fingers as much as it is in the amps, the effects or the guitar – the touch, the feel, the finesse are the elements that matter and for me Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac is one of the most important examples of what guitar playing is all about – the genre is irrelevant.
