Originally called Kissing Spell (El Embrujo Que Besa) and releasing Los Pájaros (The Birds) in 1970, by 1971 they had released their second album and shortened their name to Embrujo due to the uncertain political climate and how having an English name might be seen. Melodic, Folky Pop Psychedelia sung in Spanish in the pre Pinochet era when this style was sweeping the world.
It’s been difficult to collect information on the band but the line-up at some point was: Ernesto Aracena: Keyboards, Flute, vocals; Carlos Fernandez: Drums, Guitar, Vocals; Juan Carlos Tato Gomez: Bass; Ernesto Murillo: Guitar; Guillermo Olivares: Piano, Flute, Vocals.
By 1973 they had split up but they are remembered as one of the guiding lights of Chilean Psychedelic Pop.
