Sad and shocking news this week as The Chameleon’s drummer John Lever has passed away after a short illness. John was the driving powerhouse in one of the great Post-Punk, edgy guitar bands. Their sound captured both simultaneous intensity and atmosphere in a unique musical chemistry. Singer Mark Burgess announced this week that John had died on the morning of March 13th – a father of two, he was just 55 years old.
John was also a member of post Chameleons band The Sun And The Moon with Burgess and more recently The Red-sided Garter Snakes with ex Chameleons guitarist Dave Fielding. Deepest sympathy to family, friends and fellow musicians.

This post from last April is The Chameleons classic debut single In Shreds (1982) that miraculously didn’t appear on their first album Script For A Bridge released in 1983.
