Leaving Minneapolis today for Dallas, but not before calling in at Electric Fetus on the way to the airport. There are a few great record stores in Minneapolis and this is one of the best. We made sure that we had enough time to spend 45 minutes to an hour at the shop, see Dawn who’d been there for twenty-something years, and meet Jed and Lisa for a last farewell. I found a lot of records and had to find a way to carry them to Dallas and eventually get them home to Porto. Fred and Gerri Ann dropped us at the airport, a great week of music and hospitality, thank you for the opportunity.
At the airport I packed, discarding the cardboard boxes for record bags that I had in the case, trying to reduce the weight in the suitcase to 50 pounds. I managed to do it with some records coming onto the plane as hand luggage. The plane was packed and chaotic with everyone’s hand luggage coming into the cabin and the problem of finding space for it. Eventually, we were ready to go, Olivia and I not sitting together, middle seats in different rows. I was sitting next to Peggy, a recently retired nurse who was very cool, and we talked a lot before the plane took off, which was an hour later because of ice on the wings – it’s Minneapolis, what do you expect? Oh yeah, Olivia sat next to a small boy called Marty.
We finally made it to Dallas and Sarah picked us up and took us to Carron and Ed’s place where we are staying. It’s an Airbnb above their garage, this is our third stay here. We just dropped our bags off and went straight out to dinner, nice fusion without the solos.
