Music today has been Procol Harum’s second album, Shine on Brightly (1968). The album did better in the US, failing to chart in the UK despite the early success of their first album and the singles A Whiter Shade of Pale and Homburg. Perhaps the cover art was partly responsible when comparing the psychedelic nudity of the US cover with the surreal piano image on the UK cover. Whatever the reason, the title track is great, the lyrics are out there and the progressive nature of the album as a whole (especially Side 2) is something to behold.
