Today was the last day of loading the trucks, except for the bit that didn’t fit. So, they are coming back on Thursday for a small pile which they will then take to their depot in Essex and add it to what they have already taken and then a second truck with the belongings of more than one person will be sent after the truck that is loaded with everything else. So, the first truck may arrive Friday, we’ll see. I have to get to the storage place in Maia north of here, close if you have a car and easy to get to if you can call an Uber…but I don’t have a phone as Olivia took mine because it is an English number – Ariel, well, I don’t drive anyway. Hm, we’ll see what happens, the truck may not be here by then and Olivia is back on Saturday. Excitement, anxiety and hope.
The sesh with Rod in Canada that fell through yesterday because of technical difficulties, fell through again today because of the summer time clock change. In Canada, it changed on March 10th, here it changes on March 31st. So Fred and Brian and Bob, if you’re reading this, the times they are a-changin’. On the subject of summer, today it was warmer, so I opened all the windows and all the doors and created a nice breeze from one end of The Archive to the other. A nice day changes everything.
Pete and Hannah, who had been looking in, helping with emptying dehumidifiers and letting us know about the groundwater issue in the back as well as watering the plants and feeding the imaginary cat, came around today to return the keys and check in. They are opening a bar in Porto in June (called Funq) but first Pete is off to Oz for ten weeks. We got them a special bottle of mezcal from Texas as a thank-you for popping in now and then while we were away. I also spoke to my friend Jan in Stockholm today, trying to entice him to Porto at some point.
I did a little bit of furniture moving today, putting a sofa bed that was in what will be a CD room into the front room. It’s cozy and we need to have as much space as possible for the collection.

Music today was the amusing Dry Cleaning and their second oddly titled (but not surprising for them) album Stumpwork (2022). Listen with the album lyrics in your hand.
