Summer seems to have finally arrived after weeks of rain. It’s usually earlier here but even though it’s late, it’s still early in comparison with the north and I remember waking up to deep snowfalls in Sweden in April – April snowmen are weird. Despite the sunshine, the streets were oddly quiet. The café across the road is closed on a Monday and consequently, the deck in front of The Archive door was empty. A slight breeze infiltrated the shade, but once in the sun, it was hot on the skin, a reminder that summer is now. The trees have leaves again and the vibe is different, the rain washes away hope and the sunshine ushers in optimism and positivity.
Ariel has been looked at by a different garage today and the jury is still out as to whether she can be fixed. Today it wouldn’t start (unsurprisingly) and we are looking at the possibility of it being shipped to Spain with some other cars and paying part of the cost. It would be most helpful to have a car here, especially as we are looking to buy some second-hand shelves from FB marketplace and getting to IKEA again to pick up more parts that we need to complete shelving that we already have here (we only have struts left and are missing some actual shelves for some reason).
Football today was a terrible loss for Everton and a glorious win for Chelsea as they hammered the visitors 6-0. The season’s end approaches and the fate of the bottom teams is about to be revealed as they fight to stay in the premiership – today’s result didn’t help Everton’s battle.

Music today has been a Free Anthology, a double CD from 1993 as I continued filing the shelves with records (The bass on Little Bit Of Love blows my mind). I’m missing two boxes at the moment – ‘Ca’ and ‘Jo’ and whilst looking, found another box unmarked that had a whole lot of ‘A and Ba’s’. I’m trying to figure out if I should search all the boxes for the missing ones or have they just been missed and left in the new storage? If we had a car, it would be easy to find out, whereas moving things around is a major task because the boxes are so heavy. So because I didn’t have it in me to clean any more of the damaged or mouldy records today, I started to go through the records that I have acquired in the last three years and incorporate them into the main collection, making space for jazz/blues/soul/compilations and records from different countries. That was satisfying, but because some letters are not in the shelves because of their condition, I can’t add records until the others are cleaned – and it is sooooooo time-consuming (and depressing).
