I’m not sure if staying in when it’s a beautiful day means you missed out or you were strong enough to stay in and get some of the things on the mega-list done. Well, that’s what happened today and little victories here and there make small leaps that will eventually take us to Archive nirvana. I’m trying to find dupes, so I can swap some records for records The Archive doesn’t have, but you have to examine extra copies closely, especially if you are nerding out on the differences between pressings, haha. Is this one a different shade of blue or is it worn? Although, it is interesting to see the same album with a different cover, released in another country or the same album with different tracks like the first Black Sabbath album in the US. Different labels in different countries think their country needs the record to be different. The Japanese always seemed to get an extra track and then there’s the weird American Beatles albums. The Archive has taken over my mind.
Seshes at 6 PM with Blueburst Craig and 7 PM with Valley of Salt Brian, dinner over Leverkusen/Roma, what a game, another one settled in the last minutes. Olivia went off to her swing dance class and I carried on with the filing. I’d picked up a CD shelf for 10 euros that wasn’t the usual type that I have, but it held a lot of CDs and was cheap, except the first row of slots seemed too narrow? I figured out that they had come away from the wood, so I thought, I’ll hammer them in and I ended up breaking the shelf. Good riddance, it was ugly, cumbersome and a horrible colour and Olivia hated it.
Olivia sorted out three boxes of DVDs. I seem to have bought a lot in England as streaming made people get rid of theirs and then the shops had so many that they couldn’t get rid of them so they sold them really cheaply. It’s what happened with vinyl when CDs came, people got rid of their collections and it’s also what happened with CDs when Spotify came. What I don’t understand is how people got rid of their stereos and replaced them with single speakers or earbuds – or even their phones. Convenience surely shouldn’t trump a certain necessary quality, for example, who would pay less for food that was worse, to come quicker – oh, wait a minute.
The pace for the place to take shape is slow, but it was nice to see the two big lava lamps doing their thing tonight. But now it’s light and I can hear the recycling truck coming to pick up the cardboard I shoved into the bin. It’s been handy that it’s so close because there have been hundreds of boxes. Onward and upward.

Music today has been The March Violets – Made Glorious (1993) after last night’s show.
