I woke up today with two things on my mind, one – clean up this mess – there’s stuff everywhere, in the front, in the kitchen, in the hallway, and two – go to the psychedelic psupermarket to buy things you don’t need so you have them for when you don’t have time to go and get them. The angry red carpet needed a well overdue rigorous hoovering and all the nice covers on the couch were falling off, it looked like students had been here, haha. Having said that, the kitchen was clean and there wasn’t anything dead in the fridge.
I was playing Jimi Hendrix albums really loud and when I went out to feed the plastic and cardboard into the recycling mouths, two fellows sitting on the café deck were demonstrably grateful for the soundtrack to their wine and cigarettes. Joaquim and Luís who run the café are always happy when I play loud music, the opposite of what you might think, but then it is a deck on a street with cars going by all day and night and I don’t suppose there’s many places to hear Jimi Hendrix loud on a Saturday afternoon open air, over a coffee, a beer, or lunch, anywhere in the world, sadly.
The police were in the street today (not the band) but it seemed they were having mellow conversations with the ladies of the day. It was sticky and I cruised through the streets like it was summer in Southern Europe. I talked to some people who were sitting chilling in the street, outside their clothes shop, they told me to buy something for Olivia, I told them Olivia needs to come and do that, haha. She’ll be back on August 8th, and we’ll drive straight to Spain for the gig in Sos del Rey Católico in Zaragoza, a beautiful village. When will they invent the matter transmitter?
I watched The Martian over dinner, it made me think how humans go to such extremes to save their friends and family, people they love and people like them, one loved one means more than a million strangers. It’s not like I’m rushing out of The Archive to save anyone and still have lots of desire to get the new Rosalie Cunningham album. The aliens must be so confused.
Tomorrow will be email day, seshes to book and listening seshes too. I need to rehearse for the festival, but I really need to get to work on the records in The Archive, they don’t put themselves away. One of the problems is, you pick one up and want to play it, listen to it, look at the cover, read the words and the credits. I need to live for a thousand years.

Music today has been The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Are You Experienced (1967).
