TO WHERE I AM NOW

The last day of a busy week and finishing it off with two seshes, one with Bob in Boston and the other with Daniel in Arkansas. After the weekend, we will be back on track to knuckle down on the projects, and the reality of doing what I do in 2024.

The Archive, the mystery project … (ooh), the seshes, and generally trying to write, play, tour, produce, guest and help others with their own projects, oh yeah and collect. I was planning on going out but the seshes started early – Olivia went out and when she came back, the first thing she said was, “It’s hot out there”, so I’m glad I stayed in.

After the seshes, the premiership was back so I watched the first game, Man U/Fulham, should have been a draw really, but Man U pinched it at the end (1-0). Olivia served dinner towards the end, so we morphed into Sh?gun and the first episode of what seems to be a rather smart and intense series – in Japanese.

On the subject of disagreements, we had one on the street tonight, right outside The Archive window. Who knows what it was about, but Joaquim from the café across the road was arguing with the Columbians who frequent the café next door, it seems that there was a peacemaker who was trying to calm it all down (Lucas) and eventually the noise died down and the ruckus was over, calmly solved and all the hot emotions abated into the soft Portuguese evening, leaving the ladies of the night to claim back their spot on the street.

The street cleaner was late tonight, 2 AM or maybe this was the second run because on Friday a street like this gets pretty grungy. For some reason, I’m always attracted to watching it go by. There’s a man with a hose that connects to the small truck and washes everything from the kerb side into the middle of the road, so all the rubbish doesn’t stay with the parked cars and in the places where the sucker truck can’t go, I’m not quite sure why I always like to see it every night.

Later I opened some more boxes and filed away some more records, it’s a slow process, but it can only happen by scaling the mountain and whittling it away, do people whittle anymore?

Music today was the amazing SevdalizaShabrang (2022). She is Dutch/Iranian, and the closest person I can compare her to is FKA Twigs. A fascinating artist who you must investigate to see if it is your thing.
