I was getting my ducks in a row today in between grooming the ducks, feeding the ducks and making sure the ducks are happy ducks, no one wants unhappy ducks. The next fun razor for the In Deep Music Archive is already just two weeks away, so we have to start rehearsing for it because we are going to attempt to play all different songs. If you haven’t seen the first livestream, you can watch it below, just in case your desires are satiated in the first event. Having said that, the second event will satiate some desires that weren’t quenched in the first. It’s always a problem covering the history when you’ve been at it for decades and have been prolific. How does Neil Young or Bob Dylan pick a set? I suppose in Dylan’s case, he plays a song you don’t recognise until you realise it’s one of your favourites, haha.
I watched England win, whilst Olivia went to do a city tour with a Scottish lady and found herself aggressively catcalled. She went to the police, it’s the second time with that particular nasty fellow, she was told if it happens again call the police immediately and they will come and nail him. I wrote a song about it, it’s called I Won’t Unravel Easy. It’s my take on how it goes down, we’ll see if the lyric works and whether I or she or both of us should sing it.
Dinner over The Rings of Power and organising afterwards for the week. We have another person (David) who wants to come tomorrow and see The Archive, then Belgium/France and then an interview with Nate in Australia for Listen Carefully. Then I have to start recording the new songs I’ve been writing, just rough demos for now, nothing fancy, the basic shape, the words, the melody, the chords, maybe a bass and an electric part but essentially on acoustic. I don’t know how to get basic drums onto a track yet, that’s part of the learning curve.
Looking after The Archive, trying to do everything to help it survive, writing songs, doing seshes, reading, writing the blog, doing gigs and livestreams, there’s no peace for the wicked, haha. Trying to keep up with the cost of new titles like the Mind Games meditation mixes, triple album, 95 euros for the triple LP, out of my budget but if you saw my desires list you’d think that I must expect to win the lottery. I sure won’t be making it through Spotify. One wonders who might be rich enough and interested enough to buy the £1,350 boxed version? See the video about it here.
Music today has been George Harrison – All Things Must Pass (1970). A random song came on today and it happened to be I’d Have You Anytime which George co-wrote with Dylan and which opens the album. What a fine collection of songs there are on this album, Beware of Darkness, Isn’t It A Pity, What Is Life, Dylan’s If Not For You, the litigated My Sweet Lord, Wah-Wah, Let It Down. Thanks to Chuck in Alaska who sent me the mega box for The Archive.
