I finally slept in and awoke painless, rising into a particularly cooler day than is usual in Portugal. Those terrible tragic torrential rainstorms in Spain do touch here, not to the level of destruction in Spain, but the rains have come. I tested the outside by taking the recycling and decided that this wasn’t going to the psychedelic psupermarket weather, wait till it’s warmer and drier. In The Archive I was closing all the doors, trapping heat in as many rooms as possible and doing everything to not plug in the mobile radiators for fear of the electricity bill.
In the front of The Archive, Olivia made a sign to encourage visitors to purchase a T-shirt, a CD or a vinyl record from my catalogue but also a dupe album or CD or a book. I seem to have six copies of Keith Richards’ book Life (2010) and other books. In a perfect world they would be for sale online but like putting the main collection on Discogs, adding them to the net is hours of work, with the main collection, it would be years of work.
We watched The Witcher over dinner and I didn’t mind it. I thought it might be naff but the day before we watched the first episode of The OA, which is highly rated, Olivia liked it, I couldn’t stand the characters, haha, so she’ll be continuing that one by herself whilst dinner and the potentially naff Witcher will probably be the go. If we get sick of that, we can always watch one of those great nature documentaries.
I had an interview tonight with my namesake in New Zealand. He has a project called 13th Floor and we talked for a couple hours about the music universe. I’ve been doing a few interviews recently, mainly about The Archive with interviewers who are interested in the collection. I’ve been telling the interviewers one truth and that is that The Archive is pretty much running on donations at the moment until we get records out, tours and winning lottery tickets. The livestream shows from The Archive are helping a bit, next one (the third) on Saturday, November 30th with 13 different songs.

Music today has been The Beths – Expert in a Dying Field (2022) as I did an interview tonight in New Zealand. Great melodic indie songs for fans of the genre. Elizabeth Stokes’ kool accent comes through the songs in winding melodies and punchy beats (good guitars too). Then there’s the lyrics, clear, poetic and deep. Highly recommended…if you like this kind of thing.
