I awoke late today, after 6AM to bed, but then, mid-afternoon isn’t that late when you add up the hours. But it wasn’t long before my eyes started to distort and I needed to sit on the couch away from the computer and let King Crimson carry on without me. It wasn’t so bad and I took a tablet that my local GP had recommended and followed that with one of those 1000g paracetamols that the dentist had given me as the diamonds crawled under my eyelids from one side of my head to the other. It wasn’t so bad, sometimes, it’s a Pink Floyd light show, maybe that’s why I usually play Pink Floyd when this happens for accompaniment.
So the day started slow and got slower and then sped up a little as I got some more mystery project masters to listen to before I realised that one of the transfers was empty (the other mislabelled), so I’m waiting till tomorrow to get them properly sent. Artwork also arrived today and it’s looking great, spoke to illustrator Mike in Chicago about it, getting the details right, there are so many details at every stage.
I chilled out on the sofa and watched Wales beat Iceland 4-1 and top their group. The score board was in Welsh: Cymru – 4 / Gwlad yr ia – 1. I’m not sure if it was the whole three words because it was just a quick glimpse, but it was definitely the first word. Welsh is strange, as if most of the vowels were stolen one midnight (hanner nos) or was it daylight (golau dydd). Okay, there’s vowels there, but it still seems like some have been nckd.
There’s a pesky mosquito in the room and I’m not managing to catch it, it’s thirsty too, how much blood does it need? There was a Hatfield and the North song coming through the computer and the first line was “Tadpoles keep screaming in my ear”. I imagine Pete Sinfield might have heard this. I’m looking at joining Substack and doing some writing, what will it be? Who knows? Probably just random ideas, improvisations, some of which will turn into coherent stories, or formless nonsense, it doesn’t matter which.
Last but not least, why is the letter ‘O’ so close to the zero on the keyboard. Isn’t that asking for tr0uble?

Music today has been Catatonia in celebration of Wales’ win. Their second album, International Velvet (1998), featured the charismatic Cerys Matthews and her fantastic Welsh accent. Like Elizabeth Stokes from The Beths and her fantastic New Zealand accent and Dolores O’Riordan from The Cranberries and her fantastic Irish accent (RIP Dolores).
